Argos Community Schools may soon have an elected school board.
Bids Requested for Argos EMS Building Repairs
The Argos Town Council met in special session Monday night to discuss repairs to the EMS building on 121 S. First Street.
Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney told MAX 98.3 FM News that mold was found inside the walls. Some of the affected drywall has been ripped out and now it needs replaced, along with other repairs. The town will collect bids to complete the construction.
Co-Alliance to Move into Wickes Lumber Building
The Argos Town Council members approved papers for Co-Alliance to move into the former Wickes Lumber property.
Several commitments will need to be met by the owners of the company to work with the residents in the area. The company will need to maintain the grass and other vegetation on the property as well as the perimeter fence. The company was asked by the town to dim the outdoor lighting around the facility.
Argos Water and Sewer Rates to Increase
Water and sewer rates will increase for the next five years in the Town of Argos.
The Argos Town Council gathered information in a recent water study and sewer study conducted by Umbaugh and Associates. Figures were given on how much the town should be charging for each utility opposed to what they are currently charging.
Argos Town Council Approves Bid for Library Building Demolition
The Argos Town Council awarded a bid to Jackson Services out of Rochester for $35,000 to tear down the structure that served the community for several uses.
The building at 119 W. Walnut once housed generators used for electric services and it also served as the clerk-treasurer’s office. The most recent use of the structure was for the town’s library.
Argos Town Council Approves Comprehensive Plan
The town of Argos is making plans for the future as the town council adopted a comprehensive plan this week.
According to Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney, the plan includes a road map for the town for future development and growth. Plans include industrial, residential and housing developments through the year 2030.
Snead Selected for Argos Town Council
After losing a tie-breaker vote following November’s Argos Town Council race, Charles Snead will soon be seated on the council after all. In November’s General Election, Snead and incumbent Dustin Johnson both received the same number of votes. That left it up to the other sitting members of the council to make a decision, and they went with Johnson, the incumbent Democrat. Continue reading
