Argos Town Attorney Shares Progress Report with Council Members

A couple of different projects in the Town of Argos are free to commence now that some preliminary matters have been handled. Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney said that at last Wednesday’s meeting, Town Attorney Derek Jones informed council members about some paperwork that had been finalized.

She explained, “He got the easements signed for Westview Court and Woodland Trail and the Colonial Estates deed has now been recorded and put into the Redevelopment Commission’s name.” Continue reading

Argos Town Superintendent Discusses Sewer Extension Project on Woodland Trail

Town Superintendent Jamie Lindstrom came before Argos Town Council members on Thursday to discuss a sewer extension project on Woodland Trail.

Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney explained that the project has been on the docket for a few years but since residents weren’t reporting any issues, they allowed them to remain hooked up to their own sewer line. Continue reading

Argos Town Council Finalizes Decision to Switch to Bi-Weekly Recycling Pick-Up

An addendum to the agreement that the Town of Argos has with Republic Services was signed when town council members met last week.

At their final meeting in June, members decided to proceed with their trash provider’s recommendation to switch to every other week recycling pick-up. When members met on Thursday, they finalized the decision by signing the addendum, according to Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney. Continue reading

Public Hearing Over Future Drainage Project at Westview Court in Argos Deemed a Success

A public hearing over a proposed drainage improvement project in Westview Court was held by the Argos Town Council last Wednesday.

Town Superintendent Jamie Lindstrom and a representative from Weasler Engineering provided residents with a tentative timeline and showed them some changes that will be made to help improve drainage in the area to address consistent issues with flooding. Continue reading

Argos Town Council Informed Of Existing Zoning Rule That Downtown Building Owners are Currently Violating

Marshall County Building Administrator Chuck Dewitt recently informed Argos Town Council members of an existing zoning rule that isn’t being followed by some downtown building owners. Argos Town Council Enters into Agreement with Red Door Marketing

Argos officials entered into an agreement this week that will help them make the public more aware of the Town’s existing amenities and recent developments.

With the recent completion of the Manufacturing Center and the possibility of new housing being developed on 12 empty lots by the end of 2019, officials are looking to get the word out about the growing possibilities.

Seats Still Open on Argos Plan Commission, Democrat Members Especially Needed

Argos officials are still seeking members for the town’s Plan Commission. Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney stated that there are still four open seats remaining.

Mullaney explained, “We still need people for the Plan Commission because we only have five members and we need nine. We have to have an even balance so they [all of the members] cannot be of the same political affiliation.” Continue reading

Full-Page Billing to be Utilized in Argos after Perforated Post Card Style Bills Cause Problems

Starting on July 1st Argos officials will begin using envelopes and full-page billing for utilities rather than the postcard style that’s been utilized up until now.

Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney stated that officials decided to make the switch to address an issue with the perforation on current bills.

“On January 1st, we got a call from the local post office stating that she had received two great big bags. One of them had half the bill in it and one of them had the other half that you normally turn in with your payment.” Continue reading
