Company Looking to Reduce Recycling Services for Bremen Residents

Representatives from the company who provides recycling services to the residents of Bremen want to adjust their pick-up schedule.

Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy said Republic Services’ proposal went before the town council members Monday afternoon.

“They want to cut us back to two times a month for recycling pick-up,” said Weldy. “Right now we’re weekly and they want to go to bi-weekly. We’re having conversations with them right now. They want to keep it at the same price.”

Weldy said the council members are unsure which direction to take and negotiations will continue.

The same proposal was recently presented to the Argos Town Council members who approved the change. Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney previously mentioned that town officials felt comfortable switching over to the bi-weekly recycling pick-up since only about one-third of residents take part in the recycling practice.
