Argos Town Council Holds Public Hearing over 2019 Budget

The Argos Town Council held a public hearing over the proposed budget for 2019 when they met on Wednesday. Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney said there were no comments provided by the public. The hearing was closed and council members went on with their regularly scheduled meeting where they approved the budget on first reading.

According to the Indiana Gateway for Governmental Units, Argos has a total budget estimate of $1,901,821. To break that down a little, the advertised budget estimate states the general fund has the most money with $1,043,251 and the rainy day fund contains $38,000.

Additionally, the local road and street fund has $20,000 budgeted for next year, there is $134,560 in the Emergency Ambulance and Medical Services and Fire account and $115,750 in the Park and Recreation fund.

The final reading and adoption of the budget will take place during the council’s next meeting in Argos Town Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19th.
