Marshall County Attorney Creates Ordinance Establishing an Electronic Data Fee for the Sheriff’s Department

At the request of Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel, County Attorney Jim Clevenger created an ordinance establishing a fee for electronic data. The County Commissioners looked over the ordinance when they met Monday morning.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department has ordinances and fees for other public records requests for paper copies of things such as accident reports, gun permits and background checks but there was no fee set for digital copies. Continue reading

Plymouth Man Faces Battery Charge after Minor Altercation with Police

An alleged scuffle with police resulted in a Plymouth man being jailed Sunday afternoon.

A police report from Marshall County Sheriff’s Department indicates that Sergeant Nick Lafoon and Patrolmen Matt Brown and Jordan Rans responded to a civil complaint around 4:10 p.m. on June 24th. The officers were dispatched to the 12000 block of State Road 17. Continue reading

Three Individuals Arrested in LaPaz After Investigation Reveals Illegal Drug Activity

Three people were arrested in LaPaz on Tuesday, after an investigation revealed illegal drug activity at a home in the 200 block of Michigan Street in LaPaz.

On June 12 at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers from the LaPaz Police Department, the Marshall County Drug Task Force, the Indiana State Police and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department as well as troopers from the Indiana State Police executed a search warrant for a home located at 210 South Michigan Street. Koontz Lake Fire Department Rescue Vehicle Involved in Crash While Responding to Fatal Accident

Thursday’s fatal crash in Marshall County led to a second accident involving a Koontz Lake Fire Department rescue vehicle. The initial crash happened in the area of U.S. 6 and Quince Road just before 1:00 p.m., when Marshall County Police say a Chevy flatbed truck tried to pass a Buick Century that was about to turn left. The driver of the Buick, Judith Masterson, 69, of Plymouth, eventually died from her injuries.

Two-Vehicle Accident in Marshall County Results in One Fatality

Shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to a fatal accident in the area of US 6 and Quince Road.

According to the crash report, 74-year-old Philip Braun was driving a white Chevy flatbed truck behind 69-year-old Judith Masterson who was traveling in a silver Buick Century. They were both going westbound on US 6. Continue reading

ISP Releases Updated Information on Fatal Accident on US 31

The preliminary investigation of the fatal two-vehicle crash on US 31 has been conducted.

On Sunday, May 13th around 2:45 p.m., Indiana State Police troopers from the Bremen Post responded to a crash between two vehicles. The accident occurred in the southbound lanes of US 31, near the 233-mile marker, just south of the US 6 interchange.

The preliminary investigation by Master Trooper Kevin Kubsch revealed that a black 2011 Nissan van driven by 46-year-old Alejandro Rodriguez Campos, of Indianapolis, was driving southbound when he was reportedly struck in a same-direction sideswipe by a black 2000 Jeep. Continue reading
