Marshall County Police Conduct Traffic Stop on Allegedly Intoxicated Mishawaka Man

A Mishawaka is facing multiple charges, following a Saturday evening traffic stop.

Around 10 p.m. on Saturday, November 3rd, Marshall County Patrolman Andrew Wozniak initiated a traffic stop on a black 2013 Jeep Patriot in the area of US 6 and Pine Road. The driver, identified as 38-year-old Jesse Alan Howard committed multiple infractions, according to police.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department reports that Howard completed field sobriety tests but failed them. Wozniak’s K9 partner Irok was utilized, giving officers probable cause to conduct a search. A small amount of marijuana and a syringe were apparently located in the vehicle.

The official incident summary indicates that Howard refused a certified test, at which point, he was taken to Plymouth Hospital where a search warrant was gathered. The results reportedly showed Howard to be almost two times the legal limit of alcohol.

Howard was processed for operating a vehicle with a BAC of .08 or more, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of marijuana and driving while suspended prior.
