Freedom Park Playground Equipment Nearing Completion

The grand opening won’t be held until later this year, but renovations on Phase One of Freedom Park in Plymouth are nearing completion.

Upgrades at the park started a few years ago when a group of citizens wanted to consider the possibility of the City of Plymouth having its first all-inclusive playground. Fundraisers were conducted, allowing the group to raise enough money for the City of Plymouth to begin contributing.

Relay for Life of Marshall County Raises Thousands of Dollars for the American Cancer Society

Riverside Students Follow Doghouse Campaign with Thousands Raised for Cancer Research

Students in the Plymouth School Corporation are learning about health and, at the same time, raising funds for cancer research.

Riverside Intermediate School raised $3,500 and presented a check on Tuesday to Marshall County Relay for Life. This is the second year the school has undertaken several events to help fundraise for a cure, according to a news release.

Electric Vehicle Owners Offered Charging Station in Plymouth

A bit of infrastructure is now in place for what could be the future of motor vehicle transportation.

NIPSCO, Pine Creek Plaza, and Mancino’s Pizza and Grinder’s have been working to install Plymouth’s first charging station for electric cars. The charging station allows owner’s of electric vehicles to receive the energy necessary for the car to continue traveling, and provides a stop along U.S. 30 for long-distance travelers.

Plymouth Students Continue Tradition with Spring Variety Show

Fine Arts students at Plymouth High School will be showcasing their talents on Friday and Saturday.

The students have assembled their spring production which, this year, will once again be a variety show. Over 100 students involved in different groups, such as: the Pit Band, Chorus, Crimson Connection, Winter Guard, and Drum Line will participate. According to a press release, the show is being called “Time Machine.”

Mooney’s Ice Cream Parlor Hopes for Quick Resolution on Sign Dispute

A Plymouth business says they want a reasonable amount of time to replace their sign.

Mooney’s Ice Cream Parlor was assessed a fine of $150 by the City of Plymouth for failing to comply with the town’s signage ordinance. The company did not receive a permit for constructing their current sign in the 300 block of East Jefferson Street – something that has been described by the business as a miscommunication.

Plymouth BZA Calls Special Meeting for Mooney’s Issue

Amid an ongoing discussion over an improperly placed sign, some additional discussion may soon take place.

Mooney’s Ice Cream Parlor, located in the 300 block of East Jefferson Street, was assessed a $150 fine for failing to receive a permit prior to constructing their sign and then failing to remove the sign when instructed to do so by the Plymouth Board of Zoning Appeals.
