Plymouth School Board Recognizes Dance Marathon Participants, Retiring Staff Members

Plymouth High School students raised more than $44,500 for Riley Children’s Hospital during this year’s Dance Marathon. That’s more than $4,500 over this year’s goal. The Dance Marathon participants were congratulated during Tuesday’s school board meeting by Board President Todd Samuelson, who noted how much the event has grown over the years.

Financial Aid Workshops to be Held Next Weekend for College Goal Sunday

Students planning to attend college next fall will be able to get some free help with some of the paperwork next weekend. As part of College Goal Sunday, financial aid professionals around the state will be hosting workshops on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It needs to be filed by April 15, in order for students to qualify for federal and state grants, scholarships, and student loans.

Plymouth High School to Host 7th Annual Dance Marathon, Donations Can be Made Ahead of Time

Update from Plymouth Community Schools Marketing Director Judi Lykowski: “The Plymouth High School Dance Marathon event scheduled for this afternoon at PHS has been canceled due to inclement weather in the Muncie and Indianapolis areas that is preventing key members of the Riley Children’s Foundation and the Ball State University Dance Marathon team from traveling to Plymouth. Donations can still be made online by going directly to donate.rileykids.org/phsdm19. We will keep you updated on when the PHSDM is rescheduled.”

Plymouth High School will host the 7th annual Dance Marathon to benefit Riley Children’s Hospital this Saturday.

Plymouth High School Receives $1,000 IN-MaC Manufacturing Micro-Grant

To help foster the growth of youth manufacturing initiatives, a $1,000 IN-MaC Manufacturing Micro-grant was recently awarded to Plymouth High School.

PHS Assistant Principal Ken Olson said that the grant funds will give many of the teachers and sophomore students who are interested in vocational programs at PHS the opportunity to visit local corporations and businesses that are engaged in Advanced Manufacturing Solutions in Plymouth and the surrounding area. Plymouth Senior Wins First Place in the 2018 Congressional App Challenge for Indiana’s 2nd District

In order to recognize a senior student for his impressive tech skills, U.S. Representative Jackie Walorski surprised the students in a computer science class at the Weidner School of Inquiry at Plymouth High School on Monday morning.

PHS computer science student Kobe Johnson was selected as the winner of the 2018 Congressional App Challenge for Indiana’s Second District. His app “Homework Helper” will be showcased in the U.S. Capitol alongside other winners from across the country. Continue reading

PHS Students and Staff Prepare to Help with Parking at the 52nd Annual Blueberry Festival

Many staff members and students from Plymouth High School will be volunteering their time to help park vehicles during the 52nd Annual Marshall County Blueberry Festival. Plymouth Schools Marketing Director Judi Lykowski shared that the activity serves as a huge fundraiser for various clubs that the students participate in.

The organizations that will benefit include the speech and debate club, the local chapter of the AFS International Program, the Chinese and Spanish clubs, the band and choir, the acting club and stage crew, the robotics club, the yearbook and the prom committee. Continue reading

Student Reading Lists Approved by Plymouth School Board

The Plymouth School Board approved the reading lists for the high school and junior high school levels Tuesday. “The Hunger Games,” the Diary of Anne Frank, and “A Christmas Carol” are among the titles Lincoln Junior High students can expect to read. Most Plymouth High School English classes will read a Shakespeare play, but English 12 ACP will read Ian Pollock’s graphic novel adaptation of “King Lear.”
