Thirteen Plymouth High School seniors recently received Statewide Transfer General Education Core (STGEC) certificates in an Ivy Tech commencement ceremony at the University of Notre Dame.
The students fulfilled general education requirements while in high school in order to receive this certification. According to Jennifer Felke, Weidner School of Inquiry at Plymouth High School Co-Director, the partnership between the Plymouth Community School Corporation and Ivy Tech allowed students to earn 30 credit hours in this program which can be transferred to any state public school and possibly some private schools. The value of this certificate is close to $25,000 which is equivalent to a college freshmen year of tuition, room and board.



Five bids were received for the paving project at Plymouth High School and one was approved this week to complete the job.
Plymouth High School’s Freshmen Orientation takes place tomorrow evening. 
Students interested in attending college will have a few chances this week to learn more about Ancilla College. As part of Indiana College GO! Week, Ancilla enrollment counselors will be visiting several schools around the local area.

Three months after being seriously injured in a car crash, a Plymouth High School student is on the road to recovery, and his family is turning to the local community for help. 
Community members can pay their respects to a longtime Plymouth Community School Corporation music teacher this evening. Bob Pickell was killed last Friday when he fell through the attic at his Plymouth home onto the cement garage floor. News of his death shocked the community where he taught music for nearly four decades before retiring this spring.
A few local students are getting help paying for college, thanks to Burger King restaurants. Quality Dining, which owns several Burger Kings, has released the names of Burger King scholarship recipients in the local area. 

Plymouth school principals reviewed their schools’ test results during Tuesday’s school board meeting. Last month, the elementary school principals discussed their schools’ scores on last year’s ISTEP test. This week, Riverside Intermediate School Principal Jeni Hirschy and Lincoln Junior High School Principal Reid Gault had the chance to talk about their schools’ results. 
More details have been revealed about the planned upgrades to the Plymouth High School football field. Plymouth Schools Superintendent Dan Tyree gave the school board an update on the project during its meeting Tuesday.
Tomorrow is College Goal Sunday. Around the state, workshops will be held to help prospective college students fill out their financial aid forms.
Plymouth High School is hosting its first VEX Robotics Tournament tomorrow. Thirty teams from high schools around the state are scheduled to compete, including a team from Culver Academies, as well as the six teams from Plymouth High School.
