Plymouth High School Receives $1,000 IN-MaC Manufacturing Micro-Grant

To help foster the growth of youth manufacturing initiatives, a $1,000 IN-MaC Manufacturing Micro-grant was recently awarded to Plymouth High School.

PHS Assistant Principal Ken Olson said that the grant funds will give many of the teachers and sophomore students who are interested in vocational programs at PHS the opportunity to visit local corporations and businesses that are engaged in Advanced Manufacturing Solutions in Plymouth and the surrounding area.

According to information shared by Plymouth Schools Marketing Director Judi Lykowski, multiple local businesses have partnered with PHS to provide tours and information as a part of this program.

Throughout this whole week, sophomores at Plymouth High School have been venturing around the community exploring the various local opportunities that await them when they join the working world.

In addition to checking out some of the employment opportunities in the area, students also had a chance to learn more about a variety of vocational programs.

Some of the programs highlighted during these tours included welding, automation and robotics, precision machining, graphic imaging, early childhood education, cosmetology, criminal justice, health science and construction.

Purdue University partnered with Ivy Tech Community College and Vincennes to create the IN-MaC program to promote investment in knowledge creation today to ensure future competitiveness for US industry.
