The Plymouth Board of Works is expected to award a bid for the spring street and sidewalk projects tonight. That will include work on portions of Randolph Drive, Stanley Drive, Walnut Street, Madison Street, Kingston Road, Lemler Lane, and Chester Street. The five bids opened earlier this month ranged from just under $636,000 to more than $858,000.

The Plymouth City Council has agreed to use money set aside for flood cleanup to repair some of the city’s equipment. Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver told council members last week that the Street Department had problems with both of its loaders in the past year. The total repair bill came in around $24,000, according to Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt, which is more than what was budgeted.

The annexation of land into the City of Plymouth for a planned housing development cleared another procedural hurdle last week. Back in November, the city council agreed to annex 44 acres near Plymouth/Goshen Trail and Randolph Street for the Centennial Crossing development. Council members later revised the annexation ordinance to correct an error.

The City of Plymouth is building up its savings as the 2018 budget year comes to an end. The city council agreed Wednesday to transfer $750,000 from the General Fund to the Rainy Day Fund, at the recommendation of Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver. She said the transfer will bring the Rainy Day Fund balance up to about $3.6 million and noted that there’s plenty of money in the General Fund to cover it.

Fees are going up at Plymouth Municipal Airport. The city council finalized the 2019 fee schedules for the Department of Aviation and Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday.

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members will meet tonight where they will open bids for fuel supplies and street materials for 2019. They will also consider a request to bid the Candy Lane storm sewer improvement project.
A revised ordinance was presented to the Plymouth City Council members last week that deals with the annexation of about 40 acres into the city of Plymouth that is along Plymouth/Goshen Trail and Randolph Street on the north side of Centennial Park.
A Plymouth manufacturing company will engage in an expansion project in order to increase efficiency and profits with the goal of retaining 61 current employees and remain competitive in the market. A few new employees will also be hired in the process.
The Plymouth mayor and clerk-treasurer will be getting a raise in 2019.
