Plymouth City Council Finalizes 2019 Park, Aviation Department Fees

Fees are going up at Plymouth Municipal Airport. The city council finalized the 2019 fee schedules for the Department of Aviation and Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday.

Airport Manager Bill Sheley said that one of the major changes has to do with the rental fees for some of the airport’s office space. He told council members the fee had been much lower than it should have been, and both tenants were okay with the new rate.

Sheley also said a new fee is being added to encourage airplane owners to keep them active. The ordinance calls for an additional monthly charge of $45, if the hangar houses an aircraft that does not have a valid Airworthy Certificate for more than 90 days.

Meanwhile, the park and recreation fee schedule lays out rental costs at shelters, picnic sites, and a number of other facilities. It also sets prices for pool passes, as well as a few park department events throughout the year.

The fee updates had been approved by the Board of Aviation Commissioners and the park board, before getting the city council’s final approval on Wednesday.
