Plymouth Officials to Review Animal Control Services Agreement

The City of Plymouth may be looking to make some changes to its animal control services. City Council Member Bill Walters brought up the issue during last week’s meeting, according to Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver.

“He had talked with Nancy Cox, who is the director of the Marshall County Humane Society, and she feels that there are areas that are lacking under the current animal control services agreement we have with them,” Xaver explains. “He requested that we look at the Argos ordinance which was recently updated and set a committee and review that to update our ordinance.”

The Plymouth Board of Works renewed the city’s animal control services agreement for 2019 in December. The city pays the Marshall County Humane Society $30,000 a year for the services of an animal control officer to enforce the city’s animal control ordinances.
