Plymouth to Apply for State Grant Funding to Extend Greenways Trail

The City of Plymouth is hoping to extend the Greenways Trail with funding from the state’s new Next Level Trails grant.

Park Superintendent Mike Hite discussed the grant application with the city council last week, according to Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver. “We would have a 20-percent match, which would equal $50,000,” Xaver explains. “We have a four-year time period to get the work done, and they would accept in-kind donations. We own a lot of properties along the riverbank where this trail would be going, and the city attorney believes that we would be able to use those properties as part of our match towards this grant.”

Local governments and nonprofit organizations have until February 15 to apply for the first round of Next Level Trail grants. The state has set aside a total of $90 million for the program.
