Plymouth City Council Approves Additional Clarifications to Centennial Crossing Annexation

The annexation of land into the City of Plymouth for a planned housing development cleared another procedural hurdle last week. Back in November, the city council agreed to annex 44 acres near Plymouth/Goshen Trail and Randolph Street for the Centennial Crossing development. Council members later revised the annexation ordinance to correct an error.

But during last week’s meeting, Council President Pro Tempore Don Ecker Jr. said that more changes had been requested by the Marshall County Auditor’s Office. “This request is to make changes to include the full legal description instead of the references by parcel ID and to reference the deed numbers,” he explained. “In order for the annexation to be effective immediately, it has to be done by the end of the calendar year. State statute does not allow for annexations to take place in the calendar year before a 10-year census.”

The council members in attendance unanimously agreed to make the requested changes, to allow the annexation to move ahead.

The Centennial Crossing development would include at least 220 one- and two-bedroom apartments, plus 55 Villaminiums.
