Triton School Board Approves 2019-2020 School Calendar

Triton School Board members approved the calendar for the 2019-2020 school year when they met last Tuesday.

Orientation day will be held on Tuesday, August 6th. That will also be the first official day for teachers. The first day for students will be the following day on Wednesday, August 7th.

School officials note that early dismissal will take place every Friday, with the Elementary School releasing students at 2:35 p.m. and the Jr./Sr. High School dismissing at 2:45 p.m. Continue reading

Triton School Board Officially Approves New Transportation Director

A Triton School Corporation bus driver was recently promoted to the position of transportation director.

When Triton School Board members met last Tuesday they officially accepted Laura Baker’s resignation from the position of bus driver and approved her as the new transportation director. She was also approved for the position of corporation secretary. Continue reading

Triton Students Assist Marshall County’s Children in Foster Care With “Duffles for Kids” Event

Triton School Board Bourbon Township Representative Steps Down from Position

After 10 years of dedicated service to the Triton School Board, Amy Middaugh will be stepping down from her position as the Bourbon Township representative.

According to Superintendent Jeremy Riffle, two individuals applied for the open position. However, after looking into the two candidates, school officials discovered that one of the applicants did not meet the requirement of residing in Bourbon Township. Continue reading

South Bend TV Station among Organizations Targeted in Unsubstantiated Bomb Threat Scare

The WNDU Studios in South Bend had to be evacuated Thursday after an emailed bomb threat was received. Our reporting partners at WNDU say that numerous police units responded and no credible threat was found during a search of the building.

They went on to say that dozens of bomb threats were reportedly sent to news outlets, government buildings, banks, libraries, schools and other businesses across the country, according to NBC News. Continue reading

Attend Friday’s Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser at Triton to Help Pay for the Senior Class Trip

In order to help this year’s senior class at Triton High School make it to Washington D.C. this spring, the school corporation’s annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser will be held this Friday.

The event will be held in the Triton High School Café and it will run from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on December 14th. The meal includes spaghetti, breadsticks, a side salad, and lemonade. Continue reading

Argos Town Council Discusses Grant Opportunity Through IHCDA

A grant opportunity through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority was highlighted during last week’s Argos Town Council meeting.

Councilwoman Suzanne Umbaugh presented the information during the meeting and explained that through this specific IHCDA program, the Town would donate three lots where housing could be built.

Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney shared that the houses would be about 1,200 square feet and would be on the market for under $100,000. Continue reading

Local Law Enforcement Agencies Assist UNIT Officers with Multi-County Warrant Sweep

Marshall County Prosecutor Nelson Chipman shared a slew of arrests that were made by the Undercover Narcotics Investigation Team (UNIT) during a recent warrant sweep.

The Team was assisted by a variety of local law enforcement agencies. The collective effort spanned multiple counties and resulted in more than 15 drug-related arrests. Continue reading

Argos Fire Department Makes Funding Arrangements for the Purchase of Uniforms

The Argos Volunteer Fire Department is working out funding arrangements in order to purchase some uniforms. The matter was discussed when the town council met Wednesday evening.

Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney noted that while the uniforms may not be utilized for calls since the firefighters suit up in their gear in whatever they’re wearing at the time, the uniforms will be useful for other community events. Continue reading

Plymouth High School Receives $1,000 IN-MaC Manufacturing Micro-Grant

To help foster the growth of youth manufacturing initiatives, a $1,000 IN-MaC Manufacturing Micro-grant was recently awarded to Plymouth High School.

PHS Assistant Principal Ken Olson said that the grant funds will give many of the teachers and sophomore students who are interested in vocational programs at PHS the opportunity to visit local corporations and businesses that are engaged in Advanced Manufacturing Solutions in Plymouth and the surrounding area.
