Argos Fire Department Makes Funding Arrangements for the Purchase of Uniforms

The Argos Volunteer Fire Department is working out funding arrangements in order to purchase some uniforms. The matter was discussed when the town council met Wednesday evening.

Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney noted that while the uniforms may not be utilized for calls since the firefighters suit up in their gear in whatever they’re wearing at the time, the uniforms will be useful for other community events.

She said they’re looking to get two different styles of shirts that would say Argos Fire Department. One shirt would be more formal and other would look a little more casual.

Mullaney explained that the department already had $4,000 allotted for uniforms in the 2018 budget that they plan to utilize for the purchase. However, an additional $4,000 is still needed to cover the cost so the firefighters were seeking council permission to reallocate funds from another line item.

Mullaney added that the department has under spent this year so there is extra money available in their budget. Council members provided their approval for the additional funds to be moved and spent for that purpose.
