The Plymouth Community School Board will hear public comment tonight on the proposed replacement of the Lincoln Jr. High School.
The hearing will also welcome public input on the plans for the renovations of and improvements to the Plymouth High School, Riverside Intermediate School and Washington Discovery Academy. A portion of the Lincoln Jr. High School is also expected to be renovated as part of this project to preserve the history of the school.
The Marshall County Council members are expected to hear from Linda Rippy from the Marshall County Museum and Historical Society when they meet this morning. Rippy will be asking for a probationary period waiver. She will also deliver her quarterly report.
Plymouth City Attorney Surrisi will ask for a council appointment to the City Economic Development Commission during the public meeting.
The Culver Stellar Communities Committee is working on several projects that are categorized as lighter, quicker and cheaper as required in this year’s application process.
The town is applying for the opportunity to have the distinction of being a Stellar Community and receive funding to complete a plan for community and economic development projects.
The Triton School Board will talk about possible building projects when they meet in a work session tonight.
Superintendent Donna Burroughs told MAX 98.3 FM News that they started preliminary discussions last month. She said that they need a new a roof at the high school, a new heating and cooling system at the elementary school and an addition to a gym facility.
The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members will award a bid for the Oakhill/Soice at Michigan Street intersection signalization improvements when they meet tonight. The board also expects to open quotes for the Ledyard Plant roof replacement project.
City Attorney Sean Surrisi will present a resolution designating a handgun as surplus property of the Plymouth Police Department and authorize its transfer to a retiring police officer.

The Culver Stellar Communities Committee is working hard to complete paperwork necessary to announce the Town of Culver’s intentions to seek this year’s Stellar Community designation.
The purpose of the Stellar Communities Designation Program is to recognize Indiana’s smaller communities that have identified comprehensive community and economic development projects and activities in addition to a plan and key partnerships. Culver was close to winning the designation of a Stellar Community last year, but the honor was awarded to Corydon.
With the resignation of Superintendent Dan Tyree on the horizon, Plymouth Community School Board officials are taking applications for candidates to lead the corporation.
An online form is available for interested applicants on the corporation’s website.
The John Glenn School Board discussed pay for a substitute Spanish teacher for the remainder of the school year.
Superintendent Richard Reese said a high school Spanish teacher is going on maternity leave soon and the position needs to be filled with a substitute teacher in her absence. Reese noted that Spanish is a “hard to fill” area at the school corporation and it’s as difficult to fill the void with a licensed teacher.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department will be getting four new squad cars this year.
The sheriff’s department is trading in four multi-purpose vehicles used as spare patrol vehicles or transport vehicles as well as reserve unit vehicles. Three out of the four are Crown Victoria patrol cars.
Two vehicles date back to 2009 with the oldest trade-in vehicle being a 2006 Ford Taurus. One 2011 model is also being replaced.
The items inside the home recently donated to the John Glenn Education Foundation will be sold as a fundraiser for the foundation.

Several reports are being gathered to prepare for the Hickory Road Bridge replacement.
Laurie Johnson from engineering firm DLZ reported to the Marshall County Commissioners this week that the draft of Wetland Mitigation Plan was recently submitted with the final draft expected this month. Johnson also said work on the Wetland Mitigation Site is in progress.

Prevent Child Abuse Marshall County will partner with the Heminger House to recognize National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April and Wear Blue Day tomorrow.
Diane Fisher from the Prevent Child Abuse organization in Marshall County said a ceremony will take place on the Marshall County Courthouse lawn on Friday to bring awareness of child abuse to the county residents. Blue pinwheels will be placed on the courthouse lawn and will be present throughout the month. A pastor will deliver a short speech while Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter will read a proclamation declaring April 7 as National Wear Blue Day.
The Culver Park Department is the recipient of a $25,000 grant from the Marshall County Community Foundation.
The grant will be used to build an amphitheater just east of the Culver Beach Lodge.
The outdoor venue will be home for music, art and educational events at the Culver Beach with Lake Maxinkuckee providing a unique setting.
