Work Continues to Finalize Paperwork for Hickory Road Bridge Project

Several reports are being gathered to prepare for the Hickory Road Bridge replacement.

Laurie Johnson from engineering firm DLZ reported to the Marshall County Commissioners this week that the draft of Wetland Mitigation Plan was recently submitted with the final draft expected this month. Johnson also said work on the Wetland Mitigation Site is in progress.

“The archeological report is complete and approved by INDOT. There were no sites found. The historic properties report is at INDOT for review and we expect comments here in the middle of the month. No properties were recommended historic. We expect a letter recommending no historic properties affected. It’s been approved by the historian but it’s right now with INDOT for review,” said Johnson.

The IDNR, Army Corps of Engineers and IDEM permits are on hold until the final wetland mitigation plan is submitted.

Final plans for the Hickory Road Bridge project are due by July 21. Bid letting for the project is set for Dec. 13. Construction should begin next year.

Hickory Road Bridge, or Bridge #81, is on Hickory Road, north of 8th Road on the Center and Bourbon Township line.
