Summer is right around the corner which means activities around the Culver Park and the Culver Beach will be winding up for the season.
Park Superintendent Anna Campbell told the Culver Town Council members last week that she recently hired a new maintenance employee and she is currently taking applications for lifeguards. Be aware of a phone scam in the Plymouth area.
According to Plymouth officials, the scam artist is using the city’s name and asking for credit card information. The caller ID shows the number originating from a city department. The recorded message said the person was from the City of Plymouth and needed the victim’s credit card information.
The Plymouth City Council approved the services of New Avenues to provide an employee assistance program.
City Attorney Sean Surrisi said the program is quite beneficial to employees.
Officers from the Bremen Police Department recently participated in a 24-day dangerous and impaired driving enforcement campaign.
During this enforcement period, officers had two felony arrests and 16 misdemeanor arrests. Four arrests included a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Forty-five tickets were written and 107 warnings were given to motorists.
The Town of Culver is the recipient of a Marshall County Community Foundation grant to help fund an opportunity for residents to participate in public fishing.
Town Manager Jonathan Leist told the Culver Town Council members this week that a platform will be installed at the end of a pier for public fishing.
Indiana anglers need to purchase new fishing licenses. State-issued fishing licenses are valid from April 1 through March 31 of the following year. A valid license is needed to fish in public lakes, streams, rivers or tributaries in Indiana or its boundary waters. Continue reading

October may be six months away, but Oktoberfest organizers in Bremen are already in the midst of producing plans for the annual celebration.
Many of the annual favorites are coming back this year including the penny scramble, root beer float social, corn hole tournament, photo booth, Lotteria, longboard competition, children’s tent, bed race, and the soap box derby. A number of children’s activities will also be featured.
