Road Assessment Plan Discussed at Bourbon Town Council Meeting

Bourbon Street Superintendent Roger Terry provided council members with an update about the town’s Street Assessment Plan when they met earlier this month.

Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger explained that a Street Assessment Plan has to be completed every two years. She noted the town’s street department is coordinating with the firm JPR on their assessment this year. Continue reading

Bourbon Fire Chief Provides Town Council With Summerfest Updates

The Bourbon Fire Department will be hosting the annual “Summerfest” on Saturday, August 11th and Sunday August 12th.

When Bourbon Town Council members met earlier this month, Fire Chief Mike Chapman alerted them about the dates for Summerfest and stated that a fireworks display will be held the evening of August 11th.

Chief Chapman asked the council members if they would like to make a donation toward the fireworks on behalf of the town. Continue reading

Bourbon Town Council Discusses Police Department Vehicles

Bourbon Town Council members received an update on the Police Department’s new vehicle and held a discussion over what to do with an old one when members met for their May meeting.

Police Chief Bill Martin informed members that the new police cruiser should be ready by the middle of June, according to draft minutes provided by Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger. The chief also asked council members what they thought should be done with the existing Charger. Continue reading

Bourbon Town Council Discusses Sidewalk Replacement Projects on Main Street

Bids to replace the sidewalk in the 800 block of North Main Street were considered during the Bourbon Town Council meeting last Tuesday.

Street Superintendent Roger Terry presented two bids for the sidewalk replacement, according to meeting minutes. One bid from Bontrager Concrete came in at $12,580, while Hensley Concrete submitted a bid of $10,200. Continue reading

Bourbon Town Council Reviews Compliance Forms for Businesses with Tax Abatements

Every year, businesses that have been granted tax abatements must submit CF-1 forms so officials can assess their compliance and determine whether or not to continue the tax abatement.

When Bourbon Town Council members met last Tuesday, they reviewed the compliance forms for Bates Corporation, a farm equipment supplier, the commercial printer Harmony Marketing Group and the fiberglass supplier Indiana Composites LLC. Continue reading

Bourbon Town Council Considers Contract with Hyper Wave Technologies for Wireless Internet Service Installation

A proposal from the internet service provider Hyper Wave Technologies was presented during Tuesday night’s Bourbon Town Council meeting.

Clerk-Treasurer Kimberly Berger said representatives submitted a request for equipment installation. Berger explained, “They asked the council about putting equipment up on our water tower to offer wireless internet service to the people in town and out in our township.”

Council members agreed to the proposal, pending the town attorney’s decision once he reviews the contract and procedures. Continue reading

Bourbon Town Council Contributes Funds to Community Destination Imagination Cemetery Project

When the Bourbon Town Council met on Tuesday, members committed $3,000 to the Community Destination Imagination group for a service project they have planned at the Early Bourbon Cemetery.

At a previous meeting, the students in the group told council members they want to do something to help revitalize the town’s cemetery.

Rather than attempting to repair all the stones that have been damaged through the years, the group plans to erect a monument to commemorate all those who are buried there. Continue reading

Bourbon Town Council Approves Bid for Community Crossings Projects

The certified bid tabulation for Bourbon’s Community Crossings Grant was presented at last Tuesday’s town council meeting.

Joshua Padgett from the architecture and engineering firm Jones, Petrie, Rafinksi presented four bids to council members. The bids came from the companies Phend & Brown Inc, E&B Paving, Rieth-Riley Construction and Niblock Excavating. Continue reading
