Bourbon Utility Department to Fix Several Storm Drains, Following Town Council’s Approval

Bourbon Utilities Superintendent Steve Stacy requested permission to work on some faulty storm drains when town council members met last week.

Members of Stacy’s department reportedly located a broken storm drain on some local farm land, according to draft minutes provided by Clerk-Treasurer Kimberly Berger.

The superintendent asked for approval to replace the broken 10’’ pipe at a cost of about $2,800. He noted that the repair would address the storm drain issues that are currently causing problems on Thompson Street.

In his request, Stacy included that there are several storm drains around town that also have issues. He told council members he wants to repair those before the roads included in the Community Crossings Grant project are repaved.

In order for utility crews to do the work themselves, the superintendent submitted an additional request to purchase a grade laser for about $2,650. Stacy mentioned that all of the storm drain work plus the cost of the laser should not exceed $8,000.

The members voted unanimously to approve the requests submitted by Superintendent Stacy.
