PLYMOUTH — The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is actively investigating the disappearance of 34-year-old Joshua M. Obrochta. The family of Joshua Obrochta has expressed concern for his welfare. Joshua Obrochta was last seen on Friday, August 7, 2026, in the Plymouth and Culver, Indiana, area. Joshua is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 170-200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. At the time he was last seen, Joshua was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado bearing Indiana license plate TK273NSC. The vehicle is a black four-door pickup truck with a hard bed cover. Further, the vehicle has black paint peeling from the rims and trim pieces missing from the doors. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone with information regarding Joshua Obrochta’s whereabouts or welfare to contact the department at 574-936-3187.

PLYMOUTH – President of the Commissioners Stan Klotz came before the Marshall County Council during budget hearings to
bring up a cost on the horizon that was not included in the new budget. Yet. By law, juvenile offenders are not allowed to be incarcerated with adults, and currently the county has no real place to detain those who are taken into custody for any length of time.
He told the Council that leasing beds at an out-of-county facility was the best of bad options.
The County has sent juvenile offenders to facilities in Fort Wayne and Muncie, but most times the juvenile would need to appear in court the next day, prompting Sheriff’s officers to make three trips for transportation to and from those facilities, sometimes in less than 24 hours, depleting the Sheriff’s departments manpower. Klotz and the Marshall County Probation Department continue to work on options.
Average gasoline prices in Indiana have fallen 13.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.48/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,271 stations in Indiana. Prices in Indiana are 21.6 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 34.7 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. PLYMOUTH — On Aug. 2, 2026, at 7:22 p.m., Officers with the Plymouth Police Department were dispatched to Pearl Street for a reported Domestic Battery.
Officers arrived on scene and advised that Rogelio Miranda, 42 years old, of Plymouth, and his stepson had gotten into a physical fight. During the investigation, the stepson had an injury to his head and was checked out by medics. Miranda was placed under arrest and transported to Marshall County Jail, where he was booked for domestic battery.

PLYMOUTH — On Aug. 8, 2026, at approximately 8:40 PM, Marshall County dispatch advised of a stolen vehicle out of Elkhart
County. Dispatch advised the stolen vehicle was a 2012 Ford Fusion, blue in color, driven by Andrea Tuttle, 47, of Ft. Wayne. At 10:32 PM, officers were dispatched to the Dairy Queen for a disabled vehicle. The caller advised that the vehicle would not run. Dispatch advised that the caller was Andrea Tuttle. Police located the vehicle parked on the west side of the building. Tuttle was detained while confirmation of the stolen vehicle was obtained. A container holding an amount of crystal-like material and four glass smoking devices were also located. Tuttle was placed under arrest and transported to the Marshall County jail.

Yesterday’s severe storm, bringing rain, lightning, and dangerously high winds, caused elevated electric power outages in portions
of NIPSCO’s Northern Indiana service area. The company’s website estimated approximately 301,000 of the company’s 500,000 customers were affected. Based on outage numbers, the most impacted communities included most of Lake County, LaPorte, and the southern portion of Marshall County. Storm damage, extensive vegetation debris, flooding, and power outages created hazardous conditions and traffic backups across the area, making it difficult for our crews to assess and address damage promptly. As of late Tuesday night, crews were actively working to restore service safely and as quickly as possible.

PLYMOUTH – As budget season gets into full swing, the Marshall County Council heard first reading of an ordinance that would continue the “special LIT” (Local Income Tax) that was initiated to pay for the construction of the county jail.
That was President of the Council Tim Harmon who went on to outline for the Council the numbers should the county allow the tax to expire when jail bonds are paid of in the coming year, stating a $1.5 million surplus at the end of the current budget year would be greatly different.
The Council voted to schedule a public hearing on the ordinance during second reading at their meeting on Sept. 14. The Council heard first reading of this year’s county budget Monday afternoon, and second reading will also be part of that meeting.
PLYMOUTH — On Aug. 8, 2026, at 6:32 a.m., Plymouth Police were dispatched to Poplar St. regarding a 911 call from a woman saying a man had broken into her residence.
Officers searched the residence but did not locate the suspect. In speaking with the woman, she was able to provide a possible name for the suspect. While at the Poplar St. residence, Marshall County 911 advised of another residential entry complaint on Kings Ct. County and city police responded and located the suspect inside a vehicle in the garage at the Kings Ct address. The man was identified as the suspect from Poplar St., Raudel Martinez-Huizar, 25, of Plymouth, and was then placed under arrest and transported to the Marshall County jail.

PLYMOUTH — On July 31, 2026, at 6:26 p.m., Officers with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a
vehicle whose registered owner was a habitual traffic violator. The vehicle owner was identified as Karie Beaird, 55 years old, of Rochester. The officer stopped the vehicle at US 30 and US 31. Beaird was driving and was taken into custody for driving while a habitual traffic violator. The officer could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and the passenger stepped out and was found to be intoxicated. The passenger was identified as Christopher Harper, 55 years old, of North Judson. During the search of the vehicle, marijuana was located, along with marijuana pipes. Both parties were placed under arrest for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and transported to Marshall County Jail.

ARGOS — On Monday, August 10, 2026, at approximately 5:08 p.m., the Marshall County Coroner’s Office was notified of a death at 14942 Maple Road, Argos, Indiana.
An investigation found that the deceased, Jonathon Hayn, of Argos, Indiana, had been working inside a grain bin on the family farm when it appears he became overcome by smoke after the grain began burning. Family members and workers attempted to remove Hayn from the grain bin but were unable to rescue him. Marshall County Central Dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 4:13 p.m. Responding agencies included the Argos Fire Territory, Plymouth Fire Department, Parkview Paramedics, Argos Police Department, and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office. Firefighters were ultimately able to remove Hayn from the grain bin. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Chief Deputy Coroner John Lampkins. An autopsy has been scheduled to assist in determining the exact cause of death. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office will release additional information when it becomes available.
FULTON COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Morphey Construction Inc will move the road closure
on State Road 25 between C.R. 400 N and C.R. 500 N on or after Wednesday, August 12. State Road 25 is currently closed just to the north, between C.R. 575 N and C.R. 500 N, for a bridge replacement project at the Eaton Busenburg Ditch. When that closure opens, State Road 25 will then close for a bridge replacement project at Herrel Creek. Motorists should seek alternate routes. The official detour will continue to follow State Road 110 and U.S. 31.
PLYMOUTH — On Aug. 7, 2026, at 9:43 p.m., Officers with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a
vehicle whose registered owner was suspended. The vehicle was a yellow Mustang and was slow to stop. While the Officer was calling out the traffic stop and plate, the driver, later identified as Joseph Fansler, 25 years old, of Lakeville, Indiana, got out of the driver’s seat and took off running. The Officer chased after him and, with the assistance of a bystander who was waiting in the Dairy Queen drive-through with his family, saw the officer chasing Fansler and helped the officer get him placed under arrest. Fansler was arrested for resisting arrest, driving while suspended prior, and 3 different warrants: one from Saint Joseph County, Starke County, and Fulton County. Fansler was given a court date and bond.

PLYMOUTH — On Aug. 26, 2026, at 11:54 A.M., Plymouth Police initiated a traffic stop on a reckless driver who was traveling
Southbound on US 31 near 9A Road. The vehicle was observed traveling at a speed of 90 MPH in a posted 65 MPH zone while weaving through traffic. During the traffic stop, the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. Before the vehicle could be searched for the suspected marijuana, the driver, Brian Jackson Jr., 36, of Avon, fled the scen Plymouth Police and Marshall County Deputies pursued Jackson into Fulton County, where deputies effectively deployed stop sticks, disabling Jackson’s vehicle. Brian Jackson was taken into custody shortly after his vehicle was disabled. A search of the vehicle by officers located 183 grams of marijuana and items to be utilized for distribution of that amount. Jackson was transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was lodged pending charges for Resisting Law Enforcement – Flees with a Vehicle, Dealing in Marijuana/Hashish/Salvia, Possession of Marijuana – Prior Conviction + Amount, Obstruction of Justice, Aggressive Driving, and Reckless Driving.

BOURBON — On Monday, August 3, 2026, at 3:33 P.M., a Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy was on routine patrol in the area of
Elm Rd. and Lincoln Highway. Suspicious activity was observed at one of the properties by the deputy, who stopped and investigated. It was determined that a man located on the property, identified as Breck K. Carper, was attempting to steal items. Carper was arrested and lodged in the Marshall County Jail for Theft.
