Crash Involving Semi Shuts Down Northbound U.S. 31 Near Argos Monday Afternoon

UPDATE from ISP PIO Sgt. Bohner: The passing lane is now open at the crash US31 NB at 13th Road. The right lane will be closed for an extended time due to offloading the semi.

A crash involving a semi truck led to the closure of the northbound lanes of U.S. 31 near Argos Monday afternoon. The Indiana Department of Transportation tweeted that it happened at the railroad crossing between 13th and 14th roads.

Plymouth Woman Sentenced to 12 Years for Dealing in a Narcotic Drug

A Plymouth woman has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to dealing in a narcotic drug. Jessica Jelinek, 31, admitted to supplying Roxicodone to Fabian Pioro last December, according to Marshall County Prosecutor Nelson Chipman. Chipman says a third person at that transaction, Brandon Wojcik, 27, ended up dying of an overdose, but Jelinek was not charged with delivering the drugs that caused his death.

Marshall County Commissioners Vote to Add Ransomware Coverage to County’s Insurance Policy

Marshall County will soon be getting ransomware insurance. Last week, the county commissioners officially voted to add ransomware coverage to the county’s general liability insurance policy, after IT Director Michael Marshall recommended the move last month. County officials didn’t have an exact cost figure, but they believed it could be between $6,500 and $7,500 a year for a million-dollar policy.

Ortiz Sentenced to 30 Years After Pleading Guilty to Dealing Meth and Heroin

After pleading guilty to dealing meth and heroin, Jose Daniel Ortiz, 39, was given the maximum possible sentence of 30 years in the Indiana Department of Correction, according to Marshall County Prosecutor Nelson Chipman. He says the charges stem from a series of transactions that took place between July and October of last year.

Elkhart Man Charged with Rape, Robbery, Following Alleged Attack at Rural Bremen Home

An Elkhart man faces multiple charges, after police say he tricked a Marshall County woman into letting him into her home, robbed her, and raped her in front of her two-year-old child. The incident allegedly happened the morning of August 28 at a home on Tyler Road near Bremen, according to a probable cause affidavit shared by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
