Warmer temperatures in March, and a wintry mix predicted this week are prompting a few recommendations from Purdue Extension Agricultural Educator Phil Woolery. He says the more a plant has developed, the more likely it is to be affected by colder temperatures.

Culver Work Session May Extend Sidewalk Snow Removal to Commercial District

culver-town-hallThe Town of Culver may consider snow removal from the sidewalks of some commercial businesses in the near future.

Business representatives asked the Town to consider implementing the service after it was noticed that the downtown merchants often scoop their sidewalks at different points in the day. The inconsistent snow can obstruct pedestrian traffic.

Immediate Area Included in Gov. Pence Disaster Declaration Request

Indiana must now wait following a formal request to the U.S. Department of Agriculture asking for a Disaster Declaration.

Governor Mike Pence sent the letter – which states 53 of Indiana’s 92 counties are in need of assistance due to rains and flooding that damaged crops across the Hoosier State. Indiana experienced record rainfall in June of this year, with the first half of July showing strong precipitation in the immediate area.

Summer Season Brings Increase in Utility Bills

Summer begins this Sunday and warmer temperatures often come with it.

The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor is providing tips to help combat the increase in electric bills.

Counselor Dave Stippler says the summer season should be a time to remember to use electricity more wisely. Doing so can not only ease the cost of running utilities, but also prevent excess workload on the electric grid.
