Marshall County EMA Offers Weather Radio Programming Service

news-2The Marshall County Emergency Management Agency believes it’s time to get prepared for severe weather.

EMA Director Clyde Avery says that in order to help keep your family safe, his department is partnering with Walgreen’s and the Marshall County Amateur Radio Club to help program All Hazard Weather Radios.

Spring weather can often bring flooding, heavy storms, unexpected snow events, and even tornadoes. The devices are designed to alert local residents to dangerous weather or hazardous situations to allow time for safety preparations. Programming the devices allows a specific geographic area to be reached.

The National Weather Service broadcasts weather announcements 24 hours per day to provide information to those most affected.

The All Hazard Weather Radios are available for purchase at Walgreen’s on North Michigan Street in Plymouth on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Pre-owned devices can be re-programmed for free.
