Bourbon Town Council members decided to switch uniform carries when they met last Tuesday.
Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger shared that the town’s uniform carrier was Wildman Business Group. All members were in agreement that they should make the switch over to the company Cintas.
Nearly 100 Marshall County leaders and organization representatives attended an input session Thursday morning surrounding the county’s quest to become a Regional Stellar Community. The event was held at the Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth.
Some pertinent information was provided to Bourbon Town Council members when department heads delivered their reports during this month’s meeting.
Wastewater Superintendent Steve Stacy informed the council that hydrant flushing will be done this week – starting on Monday, July 24th and running through Friday, July 27th. Continue reading

This coming Thursday, Marshall County parents are invited to attend an informational meeting about the Triton Elementary School Pre-School Program.
The Parent Information Night will be held June 21st at 6:30 p.m. in the Triton Elementary School cafeteria.

Triton School Board members considered the renewal of a dietician services contract through the Northern Indiana Education Service Center (NIESC) when they met Monday night.
According to Superintendent Jeremy Riffle, members considered the extension of Dietician Kaylnn MacKillop’s contract. Riffle said Triton’s contract would be for $3,500 and would run from August 1st of this year through June 1st of 2019. Continue reading
At each school board meeting, Triton Superintendent Jeremy Riffle takes some time to recognize ways that students and staff are exhibiting the core values of the school corporation.
Riffle explained, “The core values are continuous improvement, shared leadership, social responsibility, accountability, evidence-based decision making and high expectations.” When school board members met Monday night, he acknowledged various examples of how the core values are being displayed at Triton. In response to flooding in the Town of Bourbon, teachers at Triton Elementary School have come up with a quick service project to assist residents who are not currently able to utilize the washing machines in their homes. Continue reading
At last week’s Bourbon Town Council meeting, the council members heard from Zoning and Building Superintendent Bill Keyser about a few structures in town that fall under the vacant and unsafe building ordinance.

Bourbon town council members reorganized when they met Tuesday evening. Les McFarland was voted to the president’s position and Larry Wattenbarger was elected to serve as vice president of the council.
There was unanimous council approval to retain existing department heads. With that decision, Steve Stacy will still be water/wastewater superintendent, Roger Terry will serve as street superintendent and Bill Keyser will remain the zoning and building superintendent. Continue reading
The holidays are right around the corner and the Town of Bourbon will be offering a variety of ways to get into the spirit of the season.
The Downtown Bourbon Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at the 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 2nd. There will be a meet-and-greet with Santa at the fire station located at 216 N Main Street. Coffee, hot chocolate and free treats will be provided. Continue reading
The Bourbon Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee held an open house last night to gather public opinion on the proposed Envision Bourbon 2030 Comprehensive Plan.
The plan covers several elements including population, housing and neighborhood conditions, economy and labor force trends, land use, roads and utilities infrastructure, public facilities, and protection of natural and cultural resources.
The Triton Community School Corporation and the Marshall County Community Foundation have come together to help Triton students further their education with scholarship opportunities in the trades industry.
Workers with the Bourbon Wastewater Department will be conducting smoke testing to find an infiltration problem in the system.
According to Clerk-Treasurer Kimberly Berger, storm water is getting into the sanitary sewer system which means the town is treating rain water. The workers will use the smoke technique to narrow down the issue and make necessary repairs.
