Triton School Board Considers Renewing Dietitian Services Contract

Triton School Board members considered the renewal of a dietician services contract through the Northern Indiana Education Service Center (NIESC) when they met Monday night.

According to Superintendent Jeremy Riffle, members considered the extension of Dietician Kaylnn MacKillop’s contract. Riffle said Triton’s contract would be for $3,500 and would run from August 1st of this year through June 1st of 2019. He added that MacKillop is a part of a cooperative that works in multiple districts so there are various school corporations that contribute to her total salary.

Superintendent Riffle explained that her services include providing grant assistance, meeting with food service managers from time to time to make potential menu recommendations and ensuring the school is in compliance with federal guidelines.

Riffle said that MacKillop has worked with Triton for the last few years and provides a valuable service to the school corporation. He said she has been working closely with Triton’s food service people to make sure they’re re up-to-date on the latest and provides ideas on how to creatively make their meals better.

School board members unanimously approved the contract renewal.
