The Plymouth School Board may not affect the pocketbooks students, or the parents who make the payments, next school year when it comes to meal prices.
During their meeting tonight, board members will receive a proposal to keep school lunch and breakfast prices unchanged compared to the previous year. Currently breakfast prices are $1.10.
The Culver School Board has decided to move forward with a regular position appointment.
The school corporation in Culver holds a seat on the Monterey-Tippecanoe Township Public Library Board. Christine Sellers has held the seat previously. Her term on the Library Board expired in early March.

The school corporation happens to hold a seat on the Monterey-Tippecanoe Township Public Library Board. That position is required to be reappointed every so often.
A Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship recipient has been named in Marshall County.
The scholarship includes sufficient funds for the recipient to receive full tuition at a four-year college or university. The Lilly Endowment scholarship also includes a $900 stipend for books and other equipment.
The Marshall County Community Foundation says Haley Klimaszewski was this year’s recipient. She currently attends Culver Community High School, but is planning to attend Indiana University in Bloomington.
The scholarships are managed as part of a statewide initiative to help residents achieve higher levels of education.
A committee made the recommendation to the Marshall County Community Foundation’s Board of Directors. The recommendation comes after the committee interviewed three individuals out of 20 applications.
Klimaszewski plans to study genetics during her time at university.
The Plymouth School Corporation is hoping to educate its students on the potential dangers of cybercrime.
Eric Tamashasky is considered an expert on the subject. He’s an attorney and legal advisor for the St. Joseph County Police Department.
Students and parents interested in taking Dual Credit classes will have a chance to learn more about the process.
Plymouth High School partners with Ivy Tech Community College to offer more than 30 Dual Credit Courses. The school corporation has indicated in the past that students signing-up for the classes will see a 1/3 letter grade increase.
Students returning to Plymouth High School next school year will have a few more course options to choose from.
The school corporation announced last week they are adding two manufacturing and logistics courses.
The Culver School Corporation is playing catch-up due to the number of weather related school delays and cancellations.
It was announced earlier this month that Culver Schools is altering the official calendar through the second Friday in May. The changes stem from a school closing on March 3rd of this year due to icy conditions.

Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz was the invited guest speaker at the Marshall County Reading Council’s spring banquet. Between promoting several of her initiatives in elective office, Ritz took time to criticize the way standardized tests are being utilized, as well as their effect on student learning.

At their school board meeting this week, members approved the Superintendent’s request to discontinue certain services with the JESSE cooperative. JESSE includes about 9 schools working together on certain services.

New Prairie High School in LaPorte County went on lockdown again this morning, and for a similar reason.
According to information released by the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office, administrators at the school said a bullet had been found in their building. The building was placed on lockdown around 9:15 a.m.

The wintry mix that descended on the area also delayed ISTEP testing for several schools. The ISTEP test has been discussed for some time in the General Assembly with reforms to the test approved by lawmakers.

LaPorte Police are investigating after several items were vandalized at the High School.
Officers were notified by LaPorte Schools Superintendent Mike Fraze. He claims that sometime between Friday and Monday, six LaPorte High School Marching Band signs were defaced.
