Argos Town Council Continues Conversation Over Development at Colonial Estates

Argos officials continue to seek ways to spur development in the town. Back in April, the town approved the purchase of Colonial Estates for residential development.

When the Argos Town Council members met in mid-November, they continued their discussion with Attorney Derek Jones about options for potential housing development and infrastructure installation in the area.

Jones explained that right now, town representatives are still in the preliminary stages of planning, “Colonial Estates has some vacant lots that are owned by the Argos Redevelopment Commission and there’s basically just an interest from the Redevelopment Commission’s perspective and I guess the town council as well, to get some housing going out there.” Continue reading

Marshall County Economic Development Taking On Capital Campaign

The Marshall County Economic Development Corporation will be looking for additional money to aid in their efforts.

The non-profit partnership was developed in 2007, but is now turning its focus toward expanding its efforts. According to a press release, the company is launching “Invest in Marshall County,” a four-year capital campaign to help raise about $200-thousand annually.

Culver’s Affordable Housing Project Works Through Vicious Circle

The Town of Culver is still loosely working to attract affordable housing to the lake community.

Major employers provided demographic data about their employees to the Town in the hopes of better assembling data to present to developers. Next on the list is conducting a market analysis to show developers whether a strong demand exists for affordable housing in Culver.

Final Readings Forthcoming for Culver Housing Development

The Town of Culver held a public hearing on a project that may see housing developed along State Road 10.

What was initially named “Harbor Landing” has seen a change to “Maple Ridge Villas” to prevent confusion for emergency responders. The development calls for about 30 homes, or condominiums, that will be priced between $175-thousand and $250-thousand.
