Jim Burroughs is the Utility, Park, and Street Superintendent for the Town. He says the community in the southern portion of Marshall County has been working to address a dead space for high-speed internet connectivity.

The cuts have started for the Argos Community School Corporation.
After failing to see voter approval for a property tax levy increase to fund operations, the school board met this week to implement the necessary budget cuts. Approval was granted, cutting several positions during the meeting. That saves the school corporation about $270-thousand.

An Argos-based group is hoping to influence public opinion to support a tax increase for local schools this May.
The Taxpayers for Argos Schools and Kids (TASK) group plans several public events to help raise awareness of the budget difficulties faced by the Argos Community School Corporation. Argos is no different than many other school corporations, where reductions in student population translate to a reduction in funding.
The Town of Argos has corrected an error in the election of one of its Town Council members.
Earlier this year, the Argos Town Council was required to break a tie for one of its three available Town Council seats. The tie for the final available seat was certified after Election Day by the Marshall County Election Board.
The Town of Argos plans to re-do a vote taken last month to determine who fills a vacancy on its Town Council.
During their November 18th meeting, the Argos Town Council took a vote to break a tie between incumbent Dustin Johnson (D) and Randy Snead (R) following the General Municipal Election. The Marshall County Clerk’s office notified the town of the need to break the tie after certifying that one had indeed taken place.

The Argos Solar Park, developed by the Indiana Municipal Power Agency, took several months to complete, boasting 2,700 solar panels on just under seven acres of land. The solar park is expected to produce .7 Megawatts.

Students new to the Argos School Corporation will have a chance to get situated in early August.
The Guidance Department is hosting a New Student Orientation to help students entering Argos Junior and Senior High School for the first time. That means students in 7th through 12th grade can play games, and participate in a variety of activities.
In Marshall Superior Court on Wednesday, 22-year-old Caleb Zachary Hollet of Argos was sentenced to a total of 10 years imprisonment at the Indiana Department of Correction for dealing methamphetamine as a Class B Felony and conspiracy to deal in methamphetamine as a Level 4 Felony. Judge Robert O. Bowen approved an agreement reached between Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Tami Napier and defense attorney Joseph Simanski of Plymouth. Continue reading

Oxygen masks designed for house pets were recommended for emergency responders to carry after a structure fire more than a week ago. A grant application made the purchase of the masks possible.

Now, the Marshall County Democrats are on the lookout for a possible replacement. Dave Walker served as the Vice President of the Town Council in Argos, but according to sources with knowledge of the situation, he has decided to move out of the area at the end of the month.
