Bourbon Police say they tried to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation at Gumwood Road and Lincoln Highway around 1:00 a.m., but the vehicle fled. Following several hours of investigation, the Indiana State Police have released additional information that can be added to the claim settlement which is about the fatal accident involving an Eastern Pulaski Community School bus that occurred on U.S. 31 Wednesday morning. The collision reportedly claimed the life of a teenage boy.

Argos Police Officer to Attend School Resource Officer Training This Month
Multiple entities in the Town of Argos continue to work together to secure the safety of students in the community.
Over the last few months, officials from the Argos Community School Corporation, the Town Council and the Police Commission have been coordinating with one about hiring a School Resource Officer (SRO).
Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney mentioned that Officer David Carrell will be attending training this month to learn the skills necessary to serve as an SRO. Continue reading
Argos Police Department Welcomes Two New Full-Time Officers, Open Position Still Available
The Argos Police Department has two new full-time officers on the force. Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney shared that Bradley Howe and Aaron Yeargin recently filled some open full-time positions. She noted that the department is still taking applications for an additional officer now through Tuesday, November 20th.
According to information provided on the Town’s official website, academy training is recommended but it is not a requirement. The starting probationary pay for a new, non-certified, officer is $35,330 while Academy-certified officers receive $46,672 per year.
There are a few minimum qualifications that an applicant must meet to be considered for the position. Continue reading
Argos Town Council Approves Pay Raise for Part-Time Police Officers
The Argos Town Council members considered allowing a pay raise for part-time police officers during their most recent meeting.
At the Town Council’s first meeting in October, Police Chief Corey Bowman proposed raising the part-time rate a few dollars in order to stay competitive with surrounding departments. Before coming to a decision, council members requested to see some of the rates that other departments pay their part-time employees.

Monterey Infant Killed, Parents Injured in Saturday Crash
A two-vehicle crash near Argos claims the life of an infant from Monterey. It happened just before 5 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 31 at State Road 110. The Indiana State Police, Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, Rochester and Argos Police Departments all responded. Continue reading
