$50,000 Broadband Readiness Planning Grant Awarded to Marshall County

Marshall County was recently awarded a Broadband Readiness Planning Grant through OCRA’s Community Development Block Grant Program.

Officials from Marshall County, as well as the towns of Bremen, Bourbon, Culver and La Paz collaborated to apply for the grant.

Marshall County was selected as one of five recipients to be a part of the pilot program that will educate and help shape how broadband can be established throughout the entire state, according to OCRA Executive Director Jodi Golden.

Marshall County Police Respond to Auto Theft Call

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is currently looking into an auto theft incident that occurred in Plymouth.

Around 6:30 p.m. on September 10th, the Marshall County Central Dispatch Center was contacted in reference to a stolen vehicle. According to police, the vehicle was reportedly taken from the 14900 block of 4B Road. It is described as a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport that is red in color. Continue reading

Plymouth BOW Approves No Parking Request on South Side of Garro Street

A no parking request that was brought to the attention of the Plymouth Board of Works back in August was approved Monday night.

When the Board met last month, Police Chief David Bacon informed members that Garro Street can get incredibly congested at times, with the north side being utilized for residential parking and the south side filled with parents waiting to pick up students from the Lincoln Junior High School. Argos Town Council Holds Public Hearing over 2019 Budget

The Argos Town Council held a public hearing over the proposed budget for 2019 when they met on Wednesday. Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney said there were no comments provided by the public. The hearing was closed and council members went on with their regularly scheduled meeting where they approved the budget on first reading.

According to the Indiana Gateway for Governmental Units, Argos has a total budget estimate of $1,901,821. Continue reading

UPDATED – Marshall County EMA Director Warns of Possible Flooding Due to Rainfall

UPDATE: Around 2 p.m. (on 9/7) Director Avery shared the latest update from the National Weather Service which said it appears that the great risk for flooding will remain south of Marshall County. He said Marshall County is still forecast to receive between 1.5 -2 inches of rain in the majority of the county. Argos Town Council Members Approve Resolution Showing Their Stellar Support

Argos Town Council members approved a resolution during their meeting Wednesday night that provides the Town’s support for the Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar initiative.

Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney said that in the four years following the potential designation, the Town of Argos would provide a local match of approximately $280,000 during that time frame to cover the cost of the major projects they want to accomplish.

Mullaney said if the designation is received, the Town’s projects would include the installation of a series of trails, a housing development and the addition of more sidewalks. Continue reading

Experience the Past in Person at the Rentown Old Fashion Days This Weekend

A Marshall County tradition that honors the past kicks off today. The Rentown Old Fashion Days event will start at 3 p.m. and will run until 8 p.m. tonight. The fun continues on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is $5 per person or individuals 13-year-old and younger are free with parking.

This event takes place in the quaint community of Rentown, located three miles east of Bremen. Continue reading
