Plymouth BOW Approves No Parking Request on South Side of Garro Street

A no parking request that was brought to the attention of the Plymouth Board of Works back in August was approved Monday night.

When the Board met last month, Police Chief David Bacon informed members that Garro Street can get incredibly congested at times, with the north side being utilized for residential parking and the south side filled with parents waiting to pick up students from the Lincoln Junior High School.

The traffic congestion raised some safety concerns since it hinders an emergency vehicles’ ability to make it down the roadway quickly. Chief Bacon asked the Board to consider implementing a no parking zone on the south side of the street to address the issue.

Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt was not in attendance but Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver mentioned that he sent alerts to adjacent residents to notify them of the proposed change. No community members were present at Monday’s meeting to provide any input about the matter.

The board members unanimously approved the request to implement a no parking zone in the area. The zone will run on the south side of Garro Street from Indiana to Liberty Street from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
