The Marshall County Commissioners reviewed grant paperwork that will be submitted to the Office of Community and Rural Affairs on Friday. The Marshall County 4-H Fair Association is seeking a $500,000 grant to build a multi-purpose building on the 4-H Fairgrounds in Argos.
John Glenn School Board to Meet Tonight

The John Glenn School Board will meet tonight were the board will hear a presentation on AP/Dual Credit classes by Rose Dodson.
The board will also receive updates from the four building principals and from Superintendent Richard Reese. It is noted that school will be in session on Friday, Feb. 16 as it will be used as a snow make up day.

Marshall County Commissioners to Meet Today

The Marshall County Commissioners will meet this morning. They will receive information from the Shady Rest Committee concerning the committee’s favorable recommendation of an addiction recovery program to be conducted in the Shady Rest Home facility on Lincoln Highway in Plymouth.
Marshall County Sheriff to Provide Training to Places of Worship
Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel will be offering a course that will help officials at places of worship create security plans to keep parishioners safe.

Health, Business Organizations Seek Increase in State Cigarette Tax
Indiana health and business organizations are asking for an increase in the state’s cigarette tax by $1.50 a pack. Supporters say it would immediately help 50,000 adults quit smoking and prevent 400,000 kids from ever starting.

Pedestrian Bridge to be Installed at River Gate South Development Project
A pedestrian bridge will be installed this morning on the grounds of the new apartment complex development at the corner of Michigan Street and Lake Avenue in Plymouth.
The bridge will connect the new apartment complex to River Park Square. This aspect of the project will enhance the quality of place and revitalize downtown Plymouth.

Leroy Gudeman Announces Retirement from Kankakee Valley Broadcasting, Inc. Board of Directors

A founding member of the WKVI and WYMR radio stations is retiring from the Kankakee Valley Broadcasting, Inc. Board of Directors.
Leroy Gudeman was there when WKVI went on the air with the 99.3 FM station on July 21, 1969, and with the 1520 AM frequency in November of 1970. He also saw the opening of WYMR 98.3 FM station in Plymouth on Feb. 6, 2015.
Plymouth Police Department, Coroner Investigate Death
The Marshall County Coroner and the Plymouth Police Department are investigating an unattended death.
According to the Plymouth Police Department, officers were called to a home in the 300 block of W. LaPorte Street just before 7 p.m. Saturday night where they reportedly found a deceased man. A woman inside the home was not breathing. Police say CPR was performed on the woman and she was transported to the hospital by Plymouth EMS officials.
User Fee Committee to Present Proposal Soon
Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter will be meeting with department heads to discuss user fees before potential increases are presented to the Plymouth City Council members for consideration.
Culver Stellar Communities Project Timeline Taking Shape
The Town of Culver reached “stellar” status late last year with the Stellar Community Designation Program designation and with that comes several large projects to increase tourism and overall appeal to the lake town.
There is a four-year timeline in which to complete the projects outlined in the Culver’s strategic investment plan.
Long-Time Bremen Redevelopment Commission Member Resigns
A long-time member of the Bremen Redevelopment Commission resigned his seat.
David Holmes, who held the president’s position, is resigning in order to represent Southwire in the company’s expansion project. Holmes was also the Bremen Town Council Attorney for several decades. Attorney Anthony Wagner has since assumed that duty.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy said there are several candidates being considered for Holmes’ replacement on the redevelopment commission and a decision will be made in the next few weeks.
Culver Emergency Services Working to Fill Open Positions
The Culver EMS, Fire Department and Police Departments are still looking to fill positions.
Culver Police Chief Wayne Bean told the Culver Town Council last week that he received five applications for an open officer position. He will be reviewing those with a recommendation soon.
Plymouth City Council Approves Transfer of Cash for Greenways Trail Project Fund
The Plymouth City Council members approved the transfer of cash from the Rainy Day Fund to the Greenways Trail project fund in the form of a resolution.
In a previous story, Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver explained that the city council already authorized the transfer of $250,000 in cash from the Rainy Day Fund to the Greenway Trails Fund. Xaver explained that in order to cover the city’s share and to adequately keep funds in that budget line item the transfer needed to take place. The city will pay for invoices up front and the state will reimburse the city 80 percent of the costs.
Plymouth BOW Approves Ambulance Payment Agreement
The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members took action this week to authorize an agreement for the preparation of the Indiana Medicaid freestanding governmental ambulance provider cost report for 2017.
