The Marshall County Council members considered a request to appropriate up to $25,000 in funds to assist those homeowners recovering from the February flood event.
Community Benefit and Giving Day Planned to Assist Marshall County Residents Affected by Floods
In order to assist the Marshall County residents who were most severely impacted by February’s flooding, some fundraising efforts are being organized for later this month.
Long Term Recovery Committee meetings consist of business owners, government officials, and representatives from non-profit, faith-based and relief organizations who have been working to coordinate flood relief efforts ever since the focus switched from reaction to recovery.
According to a media release, teams of local volunteers continue to play a major role in flood response. The members of the McFlood 2018 Fundraising Committee plan to host a benefit and giving day to raise some funds for needed resources. The community benefit is planned for Saturday, May 19th at River Park Square and the Giving Day is scheduled for Sunday, May 20th. Continue reading

As individuals begin assessing the severity of damage in the area, many Marshall County residents are seeking ways to assist those who were impacted the most by the flooding in February.
The United Way of Marshall County wasted no time coordinating with local businesses to organize a t-shirt fundraiser to assist those in need. Community Table of Marshall County Addresses Flooding Relief Efforts

Webster Center Available As Emergency Shelter for Flood Victims
Those displaced by this week’s floods can take emergency shelter at the Webster Center in Plymouth. City officials say cots, food, and shower facilities are available. Transportation is also available upon request.

Marshall County Promise is a program that helps youth in the county’s school systems dream about future careers and save for education beyond high school. Donations will be used to help local youth open CollegeChoice 539 accounts with an initial $25 deposit.

The United Way campaign kicks off Saturday, Aug. 12 with the second annual Taste of Marshall County event at the Young Amphitheater in Plymouth’s Centennial Park.
The Taste of Marshall County is the official launch of the 2017 campaign with proceeds benefiting the fight for health, education and financial stability of all residents. Local health and human service non-for-profit groups gain support from the United Way of Marshall County, a tradition that spans 50 years. More than $8 million has been allocated to local agencies for an array of community needs.

Marshall County United Way Event to Honor Volunteers
Efforts by individuals and businesses across Marshall County will be recognized in a special event tomorrow evening in Plymouth.
The United Way of Marshall County’s Campaign Volunteer and Donor Recognition will focus on the 2014 sensational seven campaign chairs. They include Donna Burroughs, Pam Mahler-Lee, Ginny Munroe, Cindy Rash, Debi Sahlhoff and Jeannette Teall. In addition to being honored with this distinction, Cindy Rash will also be recognized as the Volunteer of the Year Award for Marshall County by the Indiana Association of United Ways.
