The Indiana Department of Transportation broke ground on a $28.7 million project Friday, April 21 to construct overpass bridges on northbound and southbound U.S. 31 over Elkhart Western Railroad between 13th Rd. and 14th Rd. near Plymouth.

Bourbon, Rochester Women Hurt in U.S. 31 Crash in Peru

A Bourbon woman was one of two people hurt in a crash on U.S. 31 in Peru Thursday morning. Indiana State Police say Renee Stouder, 61, of Bourbon and Susan Konkle, 62, of rural Rochester, had to be airlifted, after the pickup truck they were in was rear-ended by a semi while stopped at a red light at Business U.S. 31.

Five Injured in Rochester Crash

A crash in Rochester sent five people to the hospital Friday evening. Indiana State Police say it happened just after 6:00 at U.S. 31 and Sweetgum Road. Troopers believe John Hogan, 43, of rural Macy, Indiana, was driving a Toyota Corolla southwest on Sweetgum Road and pulled into the path of a northbound Nissan Sentra driven by Angela Collins, 49, of Indianapolis.

Crash Involving Semi Shuts Down Northbound U.S. 31 Near Argos Monday Afternoon

UPDATE from ISP PIO Sgt. Bohner: The passing lane is now open at the crash US31 NB at 13th Road. The right lane will be closed for an extended time due to offloading the semi.

A crash involving a semi truck led to the closure of the northbound lanes of U.S. 31 near Argos Monday afternoon. The Indiana Department of Transportation tweeted that it happened at the railroad crossing between 13th and 14th roads.

Woman Injured, Elkhart Man Arrested, After Sunday Morning Motorcycle Crash

An Elkhart man was arrested, after police say he crashed a motorcycle while under the influence of alcohol, injuring his female passenger. Marshall County Police say they were called to the area of U.S. 6 and U.S. 31 at around 1:15 Sunday morning, after getting a report of a woman walking down the road with visible injuries. After investigating, officers believe that Dustin Isaiah Cavinder, 42, had been operating a motorcycle with the woman as a passenger, when he crashed on U.S. 6, just west of U.S. 31.
