Readiness extends beyond being safe in your own home so the Indiana Department of Homeland Security has a few helpful vehicle tips to keep in mind as road conditions become more dangerous with incoming inclement weather.
First, be sure to have vehicles looked over by a mechanic before the cold weather hits. The mechanic should check the brakes, heater, defroster, tires, windshield wipers and any other parts they may be susceptible to issues in the winter-time. Continue reading
The Culver Town Council discussed the possibility of providing snow removal services for certain commercial areas of the town, Tuesday night.

The Town of Culver may consider snow removal from the sidewalks of some commercial businesses in the near future.
Business representatives asked the Town to consider implementing the service after it was noticed that the downtown merchants often scoop their sidewalks at different points in the day. The inconsistent snow can obstruct pedestrian traffic.

According to the National Weather Service, Starke County will begin a winter storm watch Saturday night after 6 p.m. Marshall County begins their Winter Storm Watch at 7 p.m. EST.
