Ice, Snow Predicted for Monday Evening

Motorists should be prepared for some possible ice and snow Monday night into Tuesday. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued from 5:00 p.m. EST Monday to 1:00 p.m. EST Tuesday. The National Weather Service predicts the snow will spread across the area from south to north Monday afternoon.

Areas south of U.S. 6 are then expected to transition to sleet and freezing rain Monday evening with up to a tenth of an inch of ice accumulation, before turning back to snow on Tuesday. Up to three inches of snow is possible. Areas north of U.S. 6 are expected to remain mostly snow, totaling three to five inches.

Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director Clyde Avery asks drivers to prepare for slick roads. Slow down, and give yourself extra time to get to your destination. Sidewalks may also be slippery, and minor ice accumulation is possible on trees and power lines.
