Yellow River Festival organizer Eric Anderson alerted the Plymouth Board of Public Works members Monday night that more intense weapon demonstrations will occur during this year’s festival as WWII information is available to festival goers.

Community Benefit and Giving Day Planned to Assist Marshall County Residents Affected by Floods
In order to assist the Marshall County residents who were most severely impacted by February’s flooding, some fundraising efforts are being organized for later this month.
Long Term Recovery Committee meetings consist of business owners, government officials, and representatives from non-profit, faith-based and relief organizations who have been working to coordinate flood relief efforts ever since the focus switched from reaction to recovery.
According to a media release, teams of local volunteers continue to play a major role in flood response. The members of the McFlood 2018 Fundraising Committee plan to host a benefit and giving day to raise some funds for needed resources. The community benefit is planned for Saturday, May 19th at River Park Square and the Giving Day is scheduled for Sunday, May 20th. Continue reading
Plymouth City Council Hears Request from Fire Department’s Relay for Life Team
A representative of the Plymouth Fire Department came before the city council, to submit an application for the exemption of licensing requirements when members met last Monday.
Jim Budd told council members that the Fire Department is raising funds for the Marshall County Relay for Life. He requested permission to collect donations on the corners of Jefferson Street and Michigan Street from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 2nd, with a potential rain date of June 9th. Celebrate Earth Day with a Wildflower Walk at River Park Square this Weekend
Nature lovers of all ages are invited to attend the Earthworks Wildflower Walk at River Park Square in Plymouth!
Adam Thada, the Director of Ecological Relationships at the Center at Donaldson will be leading the walk along the Yellow River on Sunday from 2:30 p.m. until around 3 p.m.
According to event organizers, aside from identifying riverside plant species and the flowers that are beginning to bloom, Thada will also point out some effects that recent floods left behind and discuss their impact on the local ecology. Continue reading
Plymouth Street Department, Park Department Assessing Damage
Over 400 tons of sand was hauled in to fill sandbags for Plymouth residents. Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt told the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members Monday night that about $3,500 was spent to haul the sand and get sand bags. He said the sand bags don’t store very well, but will do what he can.
Pedestrian Bridge to be Installed at River Gate South Development Project
A pedestrian bridge will be installed this morning on the grounds of the new apartment complex development at the corner of Michigan Street and Lake Avenue in Plymouth.
The bridge will connect the new apartment complex to River Park Square. This aspect of the project will enhance the quality of place and revitalize downtown Plymouth.
Free Outdoor Movie Night at River Park Square
Looking for a family-friendly way to spend Friday the 13th? Come down to River Park Square for the Free Freaky Friday Family Outdoor Movie Night. The event will commence at 7:30 p.m. and the featured film will be the Halloween classic Hocus Pocus.
Since the event will be outdoors, patrons are encouraged dress accordingly and to bring their own blankets and chairs to use during the showing of the movie. The Marshall County Girls Softball Travel League will be running a concession stand on site. They’ll be selling hot chocolate, soda pop, hot dogs and popcorn for a dollar each. Continue reading
