Expanded Yellow River Festival Celebrates Indiana History

Yellow River FestivalTravel back in time this weekend at Plymouth’s River Park Square during the annual Yellow River Festival. President Eric Anderson says this year’s event has been opened up to reflect Indiana’s rich heritage in conjunction with the state’s bicentennial. It will span 1940 through 1940. Exhibitors include leather and blacksmiths, bowl makers, a weaver with a loom, tomahawk throwers and Civil War reenactors. Members of the South Bend Model A Ford club and Hoosier Old Wheels will also have vintage automobiles on display, and antique tractors will be showcased as well.

Anderson says a variety of “tent traders” will offer their wares along with insights into local history. For instance, the weaver talks in sums, as was customary in the early settlement days. Weaver says they welcome interaction with festival visitors.

Anderson says festival organizers are also looking for players of all ages to take part in a nine-inning period baseball game against the Munster Centennials tomorrow.

The Yellow River Festival runs Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday, June 5 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Find more information online at https://www.yellowriverfestival.com/.
