Culver School Board Approves Bond Resolutions for Roofing Project

While services like Posey Home Improvements, Inc. in Augusta GA work on energy saving installations, the Culver School Board took action Monday to move ahead with over $3 million in roofing work. During a public hearing on the project, Superintendent Karen Shuman noted that significant roof repairs by credible services like MasterRoof Contracting were suggested when the school corporation began looking into energy-saving projects over a year ago.

City Tavern Building Demolition Order Affirmed by Court of Appeals

The removal of what’s left of the former City Tavern Building can finally proceed, following a lengthy legal battle. Town Attorney Jim Clevenger shared the Indiana Court of Appeals’ finding during Tuesday’s town council meeting.

“A 24-page public opinion on our case, ‘Culver versus The 27 Group and Mr. Scotty VanHawk,’ and the Court of Appeals affirmed the trial court order for demolition!” Clevenger announced.

Marshall County Council to Hold Budget Hearing Today

Marshall County Commissioners to Hold Hearing over Proposed Infrastructure Development Zone

Marshall County residents will have a chance to weigh in this morning on a measure that would make certain broadband infrastructure exempt from property taxation.

A public hearing over a proposed infrastructure development zone will be held during this morning’s county commissioners meeting. The designation was requested by Marshall County REMC last month.

Public Hearing Tonight on Proposed Grant

The representatives of the REES Theatre look for support for an upcoming grant opportunity.

The City of Plymouth, on behalf of the REES Theatre, Inc., intends to apply for a Community Development Block Grant and looks for comments on the upcoming proposal.

For those wanting to review paperwork prior to tonight’s public hearing may view them in the Mayor’s Office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

The City seeks $500,000 in grant funds to further complete renovation plans to host activities as a performing art and community event center.  About $298,000 of that amount benefits low- and moderate income persons.  Cash on hand generated by the REES Theatre, a capital fundraising campaign, and various philanthropic donations plan to be used for the project in the amount of $1,430,265. 

The public hearing begins at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the Council Chambers in the Plymouth City Building at 124 N. Michigan Street in Plymouth.  Residents may enter the building at the Garro Street entrance.
