John Glenn School Board Holds Public Hearing Regarding Teacher Compensation

John Glenn School Board

The John Glenn School Board members opened a public hearing Tuesday night concerning the teacher collective bargaining process.

Board President Dennis Holland explained that legislation requires that the school board holds a public hearing to take testimony on teacher compensation before formal negotiations begin.

The collective bargaining process timeline is from Sept. 15 to Nov. 15.

There were no public comments given.

Superintendent Christopher Winchell did mention that he and Business Manger Tom Bendy have informally met with executive members of the teacher’s union,  UNISERV Director Tom Johnson, and the school board’s legal representative to begin the conversations. He said it’s gotten off to a good start.

Another public hearing will be scheduled once a tentative agreement has been reached in the negotiation stage.
