Public Hearing Tonight on Proposed Grant

The representatives of the REES Theatre look for support for an upcoming grant opportunity.

The City of Plymouth, on behalf of the REES Theatre, Inc., intends to apply for a Community Development Block Grant and looks for comments on the upcoming proposal.

For those wanting to review paperwork prior to tonight’s public hearing may view them in the Mayor’s Office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The City seeks $500,000 in grant funds to further complete renovation plans to host activities as a performing art and community event center.  About $298,000 of that amount benefits low- and moderate income persons.  Cash on hand generated by the REES Theatre, a capital fundraising campaign, and various philanthropic donations plan to be used for the project in the amount of $1,430,265.

The public hearing begins at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the Council Chambers in the Plymouth City Building at 124 N. Michigan Street in Plymouth.  Residents may enter the building at the Garro Street entrance.
