Plymouth City Council Discusses Police Department Salaries

Officers with the Plymouth Police Department will be getting a raise.

Councilmen Don Ecker, Jr., Gary Cook and Bill Walters conducted a wage study with other departments around the area and found that Plymouth isn’t as competitive with wages as surrounding departments. The base salary was one of the lowest in departments comparable to the Plymouth Police Department.

Plymouth Man Charged with Dealing Meth

A Plymouth man is the Marshall County Jail after officers allegedly found him in possession of drugs.

A patrolman with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, with the assistance of officers from the Plymouth Police Department, executed an arrest warrant at the Red Rock Inn on Saturday evening. When Wesley Drew Henry, 27, was placed into police custody on a warrant, officers allegedly found several grams of methamphetamine and marijuana in his possession along with drug paraphernalia.

South Bend Man Arrested in Theft, Pursuit Incident

A South Bend man was taken into custody early Monday morning after allegedly stealing items from a Plymouth business and fleeing.

A Walmart representative notified police of a theft from the store. Police say the suspect, later identified as 40-year-old Sulton Williams, pushed a cart full of unpaid items out of the store and into an awaiting vehicle with a male driver. Williams reportedly put a computer, DVD player and some cat food into the white Ford Fusion, but left behind other items and fled in the vehicle.

Indiana State Police Investigate Overdose Call in Plymouth

An investigation is underway following a drug overdose at the Red Rock Inn in Plymouth on Thursday.

According to a report from the Indiana State Police Bremen Post, two ISP troopers responded to a 911 call at the motel and found an unresponsive man on the floor. When officers checked the man he did not have a pulse and was not breathing. The woman who called for help told officers the man had used heroin. Two doses of Narcan were administered and after two minutes of CPR the man began to breathe. Plymouth EMS staff arrived at the scene to resume medical care. The man was transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and later released.

Plymouth Hero Assists Incapacitated Driver

A Plymouth man is credited with taking the effort to take the wheel from an incapacitated driver in a time of a medical emergency Tuesday morning.

According to the Plymouth Police Department, Dan Sutton, 27, observed the driver of a vehicle begin to convulse as the victim’s car crossed the intersection of Jefferson Street and Oak Road and aimed for the cars behind him.

Plymouth Police Warn of Phone Scam

Officers from the Plymouth Police Department are warning residents of a phone scam involving satellite service.

On Friday, a caller informed police that a scam artist is telling victims that a software upgrade is available for purchase for current programming. When the victim attempted to call the number given by the “company”, it was discovered that the number is not affiliated with any type of satellite service.

Plymouth police officers urge residents to direct any questions about current, active satellite service to their service provider.
