A carjacking at the Plymouth Walmart parking lot remains under investigation. Plymouth Police say it happened around 7:12 Tuesday morning.
Police, Fire Department Receive Donation, Payment
Two monetary items were accepted for the Plymouth Fire Department and the Plymouth Police Department.
Fire Chief Rod Miller told the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety this week that the department received a check from Notre Dame for required medical services during practices in Culver. Miller said the check was in the amount of $3,080 and will be deposited in the gift fund.
Knox Man Arrested after Foot Pursuit with Police
A Knox man was arrested early Wednesday morning after allegedly running from Plymouth police officers.
Officers were called to the Red Rock Inn in Plymouth just after midnight on a report of criminal mischief. The caller reportedly told police that the suspect, later identified as Bradley Scott, left the area in a black vehicle traveling west on Hoham Drive.
Plymouth Police Use Taser to Get Intoxicated Man Out of Michigan Street
Plymouth Police say they had to use a taser to get an intoxicated man out of the middle of Michigan Street Wednesday morning. An officer says he was flagged down around 7:45 a.m., due to concerns about an intoxicated male walking in the traffic lanes near Parkside Mini Mart.
Revisions to 2018 Salary Ordinance Result in Plymouth City Council Approval
The ordinance fixing the 2018 salaries of appointed officers and employees, as well as fire and police personnel of the City of Plymouth, was recently up for approval by the Plymouth City Council.
The salary ordinance has been a topic of concern since the end of August, when the initial proposal was rejected. A committee was formed in order to review and work on the ordinance to come up with a more suitable solution. The revisions were presented at the City Council meeting Monday evening.
The committee consisted of Council members Shiloh Fonseca, Bill Walters and Don Ecker Jr. They worked with Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver and Emyle Kruyer-Collins from Human Resources discussing alternative options and looking into the survey that was provided by the city’s consultants Waggoner, Irwin, Scheele and Associates. Plymouth Man Dies in Accident
A three-vehicle accident at a busy intersection in Plymouth claimed the life of a Plymouth man.
According to information from the Plymouth Police Department, Samuel Bondranko, 54, of Vale, Virginia, was traveling east on U.S. 30 approaching Oak Drive when he turned his focus to a semi turning onto U.S. 30. The traffic signal had changed and Bondranko reportedly told police that he did not see that it had turned red in his lane of traffic. Police say Bondranko entered the intersection and collided with a car driven by Richard Kunkle, of Plymouth who was traveling south on Oak Dr. Bondranko also struck a vehicle driven by Timothy Evans, of Valparaiso, who was attempting to onto U.S. 30 from Oak Dr.
Jail Fight Injures Officer
Charges are expected to be filed against inmates who were reportedly in a fight in the Marshall County Jail Wednesday night.
Officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Plymouth Police Department and Plymouth EMS were called to the jail as a fight broke in a cell block. Police say before assistance arrived jail officers on duty successfully locked down all of the inmates in the cell block where it had occurred.
Two Injured in Plymouth Accident
Two drivers were injured in a semi and passenger car accident at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Oak Road late Wednesday night.
When emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they found a passenger car driven by Jade N. Sorba, 23, of Monterey, on the north side embankment on U.S. 30. Police say a semi driven by Foster Providence, 68, of Brooklyn, New York, was in an empty field east of Arby’s.
53 Grams of Crystal Meth Reportedly Found at Plymouth Home, Following Search Warrant
Four people were arrested Monday, after police reportedly found 53 grams of crystal methamphetamine at a Plymouth home. Shortly after 7:00 p.m., officers with the Marshall County Drug Task Force, Indiana State Police, Plymouth Police Department, and Marshall County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at a home in the 7700 block of Rose Road.
Five Vehicles Caught up in Crash in Downtown Plymouth
Five vehicles were involved in a chain reaction car accident at the intersection of North Michigan Street and Jefferson Street in Plymouth on Monday afternoon.
Plymouth police say Carolyn Woolley of Plymouth was traveling west on Jefferson Street when she entered the intersection of Michigan Street and collided with a vehicle driven by Beth Baker of Knox as she was stopped in the eastbound lane. Woolley and Baker met in a head-on crash which caused a chain reaction with damage sustained to two other cars. Woolley tried to back up and hit a fifth vehicle.
Bicyclist Injured in Accident
Emergency responders were called to a bicycle vs. vehicle accident on Thursday morning at the intersection of Garro Street and Michigan Street.
Haifa Latif of Plymouth reportedly told a Plymouth police officer that she was on her bicycle traveling north in the northbound lane on Michigan Street at the intersection with Garro Street when she did not see the traffic signal and ran into a vehicle driven by Erandy Quintana of Plymouth. Quintana reportedly told police that she was traveling west on Garro Street and entered the intersection as she had a green light when Latif ran into her vehicle.
Portage Man Arrested for Auto Theft
A Portage man is in the custody of Marshall County authorities after allegedly stealing a car from a Plymouth resident.
According to the Plymouth City Police Department, Yiannis Sakelaris, 24, was at a home in the 1200 block of Lake Ave. the night of Aug. 11 when a car was stolen from the residence. Police say the car was recovered in Chicago on Aug. 15 and Sakelaris was in possession of the vehicle. He was hospitalized due to a drug overdose.
Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over this Labor Day Weekend
The Labor Day weekend is filled with a variety of different celebrations including the Marshall County Blueberry Festival and the Monterey Days Festival. These types of events may lead to alcohol consumption. If you drink, don’t drive.
Four law enforcement agencies in Marshall County are in the middle of the state’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign through the Labor Day holiday. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Bremen Police Department, Plymouth Police Department and Bourbon Police Department have increased sobriety checkpoints, roving patrols and saturation patrols in an effort to take impaired drivers off the roads. Man Rushed to Hospital after Burglary
Officers from the Plymouth Police Department are investigating a burglary incident at the Maax business at 1001 N. Oak Drive in Plymouth.
Police say a man entered the building in the overnight hours on Monday and was found by a worker at the bottom of the stairs inside the building with a change machine on top of him. Emergency responders and Plymouth firefighters responded to the scene and lifted the change machine off the man. The man was flown to a South Bend hospital by Med Flight.
Juvenile Detained on Burglary Charge
A juvenile from Plymouth was taken into custody on a charge of burglary on Thursday.
Plymouth police say the boy entered a residence in the 800 block of Pearl Street in Plymouth and took an undisclosed amount of money. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 19, according to the report.
Marshall County Prosecutor Files Drug, Prostitution Charges against Plymouth Man
Marshall County Prosecutor Nelson Chipman filed five charges against 68-year-old James A. Irwin, of Plymouth, who is suspected of drug dealing and solicitation of prostitution.
Irwin is facing felony charges of dealing in a schedule I, II, or III controlled substance, dealing a substance represented to be a controlled substance, and promoting prostitution. Two misdemeanor charges of patronizing a prostitute have also been filed. Additional charges are being considered by the prosecutor’s office.
Plymouth Police Looking for Armed Robbery Suspect
Plymouth Police detectives are searching for a suspect in a reported armed robbery incident at Verizon Wireless Monday night.
The victim told police that the man entered the store at 1605 N. Michigan Street in Plymouth wearing a mask, orange vest, black pants, and shirt. The suspect, a black male, branished a weapon and reportedly took several phones from the store. The man left the business in an unknown direction.
Man Allegedly Punches Plymouth Police Officer Trying to Take Him into Custody
A man wanted on a felony warrant was taken into custody Thursday afternoon, but not before he allegedly punched the police officer.
Seven Arrested on Drug Charges
Seven people were arrested on Wednesday night after officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of Green Street in Plymouth.
As a result of a search of the home, Marshall County Drug Task Force officers along with officers from the Plymouth Police Department and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department filed charges of dealing marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance, and visiting a common nuisance.

Three local law enforcement agencies will be working to keep impaired drivers off the streets in the upcoming Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Plymouth Police Department and Bourbon Police Department will increase sobriety checkpoints, roving patrols and saturation patrols beginning in mid-August through the Labor Day holiday.
