Marshall County Prosecutor Files Drug, Prostitution Charges against Plymouth Man

Marshall County Prosecutor Nelson Chipman filed five charges against 68-year-old James A. Irwin, of Plymouth, who is suspected of drug dealing and solicitation of prostitution.

Irwin is facing felony charges of dealing in a schedule I, II, or III controlled substance, dealing a substance represented to be a controlled substance, and promoting prostitution. Two misdemeanor charges of patronizing a prostitute have also been filed. Additional charges are being considered by the prosecutor’s office.

Bond is set at $60,000 cash. An initial hearing has not been set in Judge Bowen’s court.

The affidavit of probable cause indicates that Irwin offered money to three different women in exchange for sexual favors. Drug exchanges reportedly occurred in two of the incidents.

Irwin is the Executive Director of the Marshall County Care and Share Program.

The Marshall County Drug Task Force is leading the investigation with the assistance of the Indiana State Police, Bremen Police Department, Plymouth Police Department and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
