The Indiana Department of Transportation is urging political candidates and their supporters to prevent road signs from blocking traffic visibility. According to INDOT, intersections, interchanges, and right-of-ways that run along a road should not be utilized for political yard signs.

Marshall County Council on Aging to Complete Transportation Funding Paperwork
Marshall County will act as a funding pass-through point to deliver transportation funding from the Indiana Department of Transportation to the Marshall County Council on Aging.
Executive Director Jackie Wright explained to the Marshall County Commissioners Monday morning that she is submitting grant paperwork to INDOT for the annual request for transportation funding. She requested that the County be the pass-through point for the funds. She anticipates the reception of $277,000 this year.
The county approved a resolution to sign the contracts as presented for the necessary action. All signed paperwork needs to be submitted to INDOT by June 1.

That’s because planting season is in full swing. Farmers often use local roads to navigate between fields. According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, this means car drivers should be more alert.

INDOT Prepares for Busy Travel Weekend
The combination of the Men’s Final Four in Indianapolis and spring break traffic will make for a busy weekend on Indiana’s highways. Of the four teams playing in the NCAA tournament, three are within a five-hour drive of Indiana. INDOT advises motorists should also expect additional traffic on interstates 65, 69, 74 and U.S. 31. Officials say contractors will pull back construction barrels and have to buy stanchions and install barricades as much as possible on highways to welcome basketball fans. Some road restrictions will remain in place for ongoing projects, though. They include I-65 north of Louisville for construction of a new Ohio River bridge and I-74 in Montgomery County between State Road 25 and U.S. 231. U.S. 31 is also down to one lane in each direction north of Indianapolis between State Roads 38 and 32 in Westfield. I-69 is reduced to one lane in each direction on weekdays as well for bridge rehabilitation at State Road 4 near Ashley. Continue reading

Sen. Donnelly Believes Ample Time Exists For Hoosier Line Fix
U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly is continuing comments on the operation of the Hoosier State Line.
The four-day per week train between Indianapolis and Chicago was initially anticipated to cease service on April 1st of this year. That announcement came after a Federal Railroad Administration decision that would require Indiana to serve as a railroad carrier.
