INDOT Cautions Motorists as Winter Weather Moves In

INDOT-logo-150x131Indiana Department of Transportation officials are keeping a close eye on the weather so they can respond appropriately to the wintry precipitation mix moving across the state.

Rain, freezing rain, snow and ice are all expected, and a few degrees variance in temperatures can make a big difference. INDOT maintenance supervisors will continue to monitor developing conditions and reports from law enforcement and the public as well as local forecasts so they can respond accordingly. INDOT Readies for Winter

The Indiana Department of Transportation started preparing for the upcoming winter season soon after the last of the snow and ice melted last spring. INDOT officials say their top winter priority is removing snow and preventing ice on more than 11,000 miles of interstates, U.S. highways and state routes. Continue reading

Town of Culver Prepares for INDOT Requests for Civil Rights Act Compliance

culver-town-hallThe Town of Culver is preparing to make sure they’re in compliance with a section of the Civil Rights Act.

During Tuesday night’s Culver Town Council meeting, a draft Title VI plan was considered. That section of federal law outlines non-discrimination compliance. The federal government also links funding to matching provisions at the local level.

INDOT Schedules Repairs to State Road 331

Road closedDrivers who travel between Bremen and Mishawaka will need to plan a new route for the next several weeks. Starting Monday, INDOT will close State Road 331 between U.S. 6 and the U.S. 20 bypass to remove old asphalt, patch and repair areas of the road. They will also resurface the 11.5 mile stretch in order to completely restore it. Continue reading
