Cold Weather May Lead to Hazardous Travel Conditions

INDOT-logo-150x131Bitter cold overnight temperatures mean icy roads are likely today as wet and melting precipitation freezes again.

Yellow level travel advisories are in effect for the entire listening area. . That means routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid those areas. There are no travel restrictions in effect for counties in the far northwest corner of the state.

Public safety agencies note it’s difficult for drivers to tell the difference between black ice and refreezing from wet highways. They add ice is the most dangerous of all winter road conditions because it affects all vehicle sizes and types, including large trucks and those with four-wheel drive.
